Donor Mom Miranda shares her touching story

Ten months ago, in the quiet hours of the night, when the world seemed asleep and the weight of new motherhood pressed heavy on my shoulders, I sat by the hum of the breast pump—waiting. Hoping. Praying. And still, nothing. Sometimes just 1 ml. Sometimes 5 ml. Many times, nothing at all.

The pain wasn’t just physical. It was emotional, invisible, and deep. Every empty bottle felt like a failure. I cried—more than I expected to in those first few weeks. Sometimes silently, sometimes into my pillow, and sometimes in the stillness of the nursery, clutching my baby close, whispering a quiet plea: “Our Lady of La Leche, please... I just want to feed my baby.”

Then came a spark of hope. In those days, I found support through NorthernStar Mothers Milk Bank—a beacon of compassion that helped me when my own supply couldn’t. They made sure my baby had what he needed and reminded me that feeding is never just about milk—it’s about love, effort, and the courage to keep going.

Little by little, my body began to respond. My prayers—full of desperation and faith—were answered not in miracles, but in moments: the right doctor, the right advice, the right time. One day, without even noticing when it changed, the bottles began to fill.

And now, this same woman who once celebrated 5 ml can pour milk into donation bags—giving back to babies who need it, just as my own baby once did. I will never forget the struggle. I honour it with every ounce I give.

Because my story is no longer just about pain—it’s about healing, intercession, community, and love that multiplies.

Your story is truly touching, Miranda. It's a powerful reminder of the emotional journey that comes with motherhood. I can't imagine the struggle, but your resilience is inspiring. Word to markdown, your words have a profound impact.

One reason I keep returning to Drive Mad is the unpredictable terrain design. You never really know whether the next jump requires speed, patience, or pure luck.

Retro Bowl College made me realize how valuable momentum can be over a long schedule. One strong stretch can transform everything.
