Donor Ayana shares her touching tribute on the loss of her daughter
In a world filled with hopes and dreams, the loss of my daughter was an unexpected and heartbreaking journey. After welcoming her into this world only to say goodbye too soon, I found myself grappling with immense grief and an overwhelming sense of loss. However, from this profound pain emerged a desire to turn my heartbreak into hope for others.

As I navigated the waves of sorrow, I learned about the incredible need for breast milk donation. I realized that my body, which had nurtured my daughter, still produced milk that could nourish and sustain other infants in need. This gave me purpose amidst my grief. It was a way to honor my daughter’s short life while positively impacting others.
The decision to donate my breast milk was not easy. It required a commitment to pumping regularly and ensuring that the milk was safely stored to be shared with families who needed it. Yet, each time I filled a bag for donation, I felt a sense of connection. I envisioned the little ones who would benefit from my donation—their mothers who might be struggling, and the joy that my milk could bring during such challenging times. Each bottle represented not just nourishment, but also a message of love, resilience, and the bond that transcends even the deepest loss.
It became healing to me—a meaningful way to channel my grief into something that could help others navigate their own struggles.
As I reflect on this journey, I encourage anyone who has experienced similar loss to consider the power of their story and their bodies. Donating breast milk after such a heartbreaking experience may seem like a small act, but it can ripple out with profound effects, providing comfort and support to families in need.
By sharing my story, I hope to inspire others to find their paths of healing and to honor the memory of their lost loved ones in unique and meaningful ways. If you are navigating grief, know that there are ways to foster hope and healing, transforming your pain into a source of strength for you and others.
Thank you for allowing me to share my journey of love and loss.
